2001

March, 9th

ASS Automotive Solar Systems GmbH was set up by Mr. Reinhard Wecker. At this time the graduated engineer had already 15 years’ experience in manufacturing of spherically curved solar panels for automobiles, such as for the Audi A8 Solar.

2002

The start-up company began with building samples and prototypes at the new Technology and Media Centre in Erfurt. ASS developed and manufactured special solutions for the automobile sector.

Beginning of production of standard solar modules for building mounted and ground-mounted applications.

As a result of strong growth, the company moved to Isseroda near Erfurt into a new factory with 3,500 m² and a production capacity of 15MW. At the same time a bigger production facility was projected. The company changed its name from ASS Automotive Solar Systems GmbH to asola - Advanced and Automotive Solar Systems GmbH. 

2008

asola launched a strategic cooperation arrangement with the America based company Quantum Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: QTWW). Quantum holds 24,9 percent of asola - Advanced and Automotive Solar Systems GmbH.

2009

The new production building with 5,000 m² and a capacity of 45MW were dedicated. At the same time the whole company moved to the new head office in Erfurt, near the Technology and Media Centre, where the successful story of asola first began.

2010

asola Advanced and Automotive Solar Systems GmbH gets the "2009 World Advanced Mobile Solar Technology Growth Leadership Award” by the global operation company Frost & Sullivan, based on their Best Practices research, for excellence in capturing the highest annual compound growth rate for the previous three years. 

2011

January

The Asola company has restructured: „asola Quantum Solarpower AG“ was founded as a holding company. The activities in the automobile solar industry are undertaken by „asola Automotive Solar Deutschland GmbH”. The 10-year-old company, asola Advanced and Automotive Solar Systems GmbH - now  „asola Solarpower GmbH” - continues to develop, produce and market solar modules and roof integrated systems for building and ground-mounted applications. All three companies are based in Erfurt / Germany.

March

Exactly on March, 9th 2011 asola can look back on 10 successful years. The German company starts with rented machines and a product capacity of 3 MW and now asola os an global operating company group.

2007

2003

… are of course working with asola solar modules "Made in Germany".
 
On the premises two solar plants, partly owned by asola employees, are  tapping the environmentally friendly energy. 
 
The two installations are producing monthly the power, which 6 German households are consuming in average.
